WordPress Integration

Connecting RankPush to your WordPress site turns your content plan into live, traffic-driving blog posts without lifting a finger. Every article arrives fully formatted — featured image, SEO title, meta description, and focus keyword written straight into your SEO plugin — so there's no copy-pasting, no broken formatting, and nothing to clean up. Articles publish on your daily schedule automatically, or as drafts if you prefer to review them first.

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • A WordPress site on WordPress 5.8 or later
  • Administrator access to install plugins
  • Your site running PHP 7.4 or later

Setup Instructions

Open Settings → Integrations → WordPress in your RankPush dashboard. You'll install our connector plugin on your site first:

  1. Go to your WordPress dashboard → Plugins → Add New
  2. Search for “RankPush Connector”
  3. Click Install Now, then Activate
  4. Open Settings → RankPush in your WordPress admin
  5. Copy the API Key (starts with rpush_) — it's generated automatically on activation
  6. Return to RankPush, enter your WordPress site URL and the API key
  7. Click Test Connection to verify, then Connect WordPress

That's it. From then on, RankPush publishes your daily article to WordPress automatically — formatting, images, and SEO fields included. Any article that was already written before you connected is published for you the moment the connection completes.

Publishing Options

By default, articles go live immediately — that's the autopilot promise. If you'd rather approve each piece first, open Settings → RankPush in your WordPress admin and untick “Allow RankPush to publish posts live”. Every article will then land as a draft waiting for your review, and nothing goes public until you hit Publish inside WordPress.

Optimizing Your Permalink Structure

WordPress's default URLs often include dates or post IDs, which is wasted SEO potential. For clean URLs:

  1. Go to Settings → Permalinks in your WordPress dashboard
  2. Select “Custom Structure”
  3. Enter /%postname%/ for root-level posts, or /blog/%postname%/ to keep posts under /blog/

Your URLs go from yoursite.com/?p=123 to yoursite.com/how-to-rank-higher/.

Customizing Published Content

Changing the default category: articles are assigned to your WordPress default category (usually “Uncategorized”). To change what readers see, go to Posts → Categories, edit “Uncategorized”, and rename it to something like “Blog” or “Articles”.

Changing the author name: posts are attributed to the WordPress account that activated the plugin. Update the display name under Users → Your Profile to change the byline.

Troubleshooting

Common issues and how to fix them

The plugin won't install or activate.
Install it from the official directory: Plugins → Add New, search “RankPush Connector”, Install Now, Activate — and make sure your site runs PHP 7.4+ and WordPress 5.8+. If your host restricts plugin installs, ask them to allow it or install via FTP into wp-content/plugins/.
I can't find the API key.
It lives in your WordPress admin under Settings → RankPush and is generated automatically the moment the plugin activates. It always starts with rpush_.
My connection failed. What should I check?
Three usual suspects: the site URL must be your base domain with https:// (no /wp-admin path), the API key must be copied in full, and a security plugin or firewall may be blocking the WordPress REST API — allowlist the /wp-json/rankpush/v1/ namespace and try Test Connection again.
My articles aren't publishing.
Check that the plugin is still active and the API key hasn't been regenerated in WordPress (regenerating revokes the old key — reconnect with the new one). Also confirm your site has disk space for image imports. The failing article can be retried from its page in RankPush.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about this integration

Can I publish to multiple WordPress sites?
Yes — each website in RankPush has its own subscription, calendar, and integration. Add a website from your dashboard and connect its WordPress separately.
Do articles publish live automatically?
Yes, by default — that's the autopilot. Prefer editorial review? Switch the plugin to drafts-only mode under Settings → RankPush in your WordPress admin.
Will this slow down my WordPress site?
No. The plugin is a few kilobytes, adds nothing to your public pages, and only does work in the moment an article is delivered.
Can I update an article after it's published?
Yes. Edits made in RankPush are pushed to the same WordPress post — no duplicates.
Can I revoke access?
Instantly. Click Regenerate API Key in Settings → RankPush (WordPress side) or Disconnect in RankPush — either one cuts access on the spot.
Is the plugin secure?
Yes. It authenticates every request with your site-generated API key (compared in constant time), never initiates outbound connections, only touches posts it created, and is open source under GPLv2 so anyone can audit it.
